What's this?
Probably the hardest thing I have ever done. But so worth it
This is a short animation from some learning I took as part of a fantastic School of Motion Bootcamp course and the hardest thing I have have ever had to do. But worth it. So worth it
The basic premise of this task was to create something that utilises all of the principles and ideas we've been learning about up to this point and put them to good use.
This exercise uses all of what I had been taught so far. To get the result I wanted, I needed to use good Timing, Spacing, Oscillations, Bounces, Follow-Through, and Squash & Stretch.
This was probably one of the main animations that taught me a lot about myself in regarding to learning motion.
I love motion design but this was HAAAAAARD but so much fun.
That moment where you get a sense of growth and achievement from your learnings, that make you feel you are heading in the right direction…this was it.🤯
Music is muted by default. Didn’t want to drive you mad.

The outcome
The outcome
Yes I know this is not a live project. So what possible outcomes could I get from this right? Well think about it…
I know we usually look at outcomes from a metrics or value added viewpoint. Which I fully understand. However, if we go further back, there is the learning phase that then feeds into a future version of work or yourself.
In this instance, the metric and value this added was that I was super impressed with myself for getting through this. Gave me a hell of a lot of confidence in motion generally, which is not something I do on a daily basis.
It made me so much more confident in terms of what I was doing with motion going forward.
That's where the added value comes in. By doing more and more of this type creativity and using motion generally in my work, to sell in my ideas and push the creative, to help the numbers go up.
Thinking forward.
